“It was a prohibited overtaking by the driver. It was too close to the truck in front and even then, without visibility, it passed. When I felt the bus rocking, I got up from the seat, I realized that the truck driver tried to push it away . but it was not successful, it did not have time. The bus was completely destroyed on the driver’s side and the truck stopped 50 meters away, in a ravine. “

Biggest accident of the year

The Military Police consider the accident the largest of the year, according to Lieutenant Alexandre Guedes. According to him, the first hypothesis is that an overtaking could have caused the accident, but the investigations are still in an initial stage.

The Piraju Fire Department received the first call to attend to the incident at 6:45 am. The DER (Department of Roads and Highways) reported that this was the first fatal accident in the section of the Alfredo de Oliveira Carvalho Highway between Taguaí and Taquarituba in ten years.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Civil Police, the accident was caused by human error.
