Muricy says that São Paulo has an agreement with Benítez and details interest in Gabriel Neves | Saint Paul

São Paulo soccer coordinator Muricy Ramalho spoke on Tuesday about the negotiations involving Uruguayan Gabriel Neves, from Nacional, and Argentine Benítez, from Vasco. He confirmed that both were at the request of coach Hernán Crespo.

– They are players that you cannot hide, it is public. Players requested by Crespo. Neves is a midfielder. Crespo wants a midfielder, a boy who knows how to play, not just a scorer. Since he plays with three defenders, the defensive midfielder has to know how to play. Neves is one of them and is in negotiation. It is not easy, because the economic part is always on the way – said Muricy live on the “Arnaldo e Tirone” channel.

– Benítez is the same, he has a slope in Vasco, a little thing that ends in July. With Benítez you have the proposal, the agreement, and now it is in your hands. Vasco has a contract until June. He is asking for release, I don’t know, ”he added.

In Benítez’s case, there is a dead end in relation to values. In January, Vasco paid US $ 250,000 (about R $ 1.4 million) to Independiente to keep him behind the wheel until June 30.

In the contract, however, it is foreseen that the Argentine club can sell it from March 1 and that, in this case, Vasco could match the offer or keep 15% of the transaction. If you choose to buy it, the amount will be discounted. That is, it would pay US $ 3.75 million for 60%, in 18 months.

São Paulo would like to have Benítez on loan at the end of this season and are negotiating with the clubs to close the deal.

In the case of Gabriel Neves, São Paulo made a proposal to buy 50% of the economic rights of the 23-year-old midfielder. Numbers are kept confidential. Tricolor denies having made a new offer or increased the amounts.

So far, São Paulo has signed three players for the 2021 season: forward Bruno Rodrigues (loan), defender Miranda (one-year, eight-month contract) and right-back Orejuela (contract until March 2024). The last two were received by coach Hernán Crespo.
