Mosaic, homage and friendships: Prass returns to Palmeiras as a rival, but remains an idol | palms

No one from Palma will deny how strange it was to see Fernando Prass dressed in purple. Not so much because of the color, but because of the symbol that the 42-year-old veteran goalkeeper wore on the left side of his chest. For the first time since 2013, when even in Serie B he began to feel the Palmeiras shirt, the player acted as a rival. Nothing relevant and that prevented a Saturday of tribute and recognition.

Before mentioning how the alviverde club prepared to receive the idol as a rival, it is necessary to describe the performance of Fernando Prass. Even before the team responsible for the greatest projection of his career, the goalkeeper showed that he remains in shape, without the burden of old age. The Ceará jersey 1 made stops and avoided a greater defeat than the 2 to 1 at Allianz Parque.

The doorman realized it would be a different night as soon as he landed in the sand. Due to the protocols created before the new coronavirus pandemic, Prass and Ceará crossed the lawn to the locker rooms. The Palmeirean idol did not hide his smile when he turned to the chairs and saw that the mosaic produced by the crowd was being erected in the stadium.

The art is the same fact and presented by the fans in the final of the Brazil Cup 2015, when Prass was still feeling the first effects of being an idol of Palmeiras. Almost five years have passed and the mosaic is well cared for by those who insist on showing how much they admire the goalkeeper who wear the alviverde symbol on their chest.

Prass even got Palmeiras and Allianz Parque to change a tradition. For the first time since the stadium reopened, a rival was overjoyed. Announcer Marcos Costi produced a special text to announce Prass in the lineup.

– The story never fades. The achievements are eternal. For history, honor and dignity; On behalf of the entire Palmeirense family, for the first time I will praise the name of an opponent. With affection, gratitude and much respect, I announce to the Palmeirense family that the number 1 of the Ceará team and our eternal idol … Feeeeeeeeernandoooooo Praaaaaaaaaaaaaass – declared the best known voice of the stadium.

The goalkeeper, however, had finished the warm-up on the side of Ceará and was off the pitch when the announcer announced Prass with the same exaltation as the Palmeiras times.

However, hardly the number 1 jersey in Ceará did not listen to or read about the words dictated by Marcos Costi, who, with the sand microphone in hand, reproduced a tribute that any fan of the club would like to pay to the idol.

Greetings and conversation at the end

Prass is also loved in the internal environment of Palmeiras. The goalkeeper made a point of greeting teammates as well as those who shared the daily routine on the field. The press officers and even the ball boys of the game received the touch of a clenched fist, the form of affection recommended for reunions in this period of social isolation.

This sweetie obviously ended when the ball rolled. But, the final whistle was enough for Prass to once again be treated as an idol and friend to many there in Palmeiras.

Raphael Veiga, one of the highlights of the game, made sure to have a lively chat with the veteran in midfield, in the last public act of recognition received by the goalkeeper. Even with the defeat, the goalkeeper had a special Saturday.
