To Alvarez & Marsal, The consulting firm of which Sergio Moro has just become a managing partner has already earned R $ 17.6 million from the judicial reorganization process of the Odebrecht group. The conglomerate of companies went to court to try to renegotiate its debts and escape bankruptcy after being investigated by Operation Lava Jato, in which Moro was a judge.
The company, based in the United States, was appointed in June of last year by the São Paulo Justice as judicial administrator in the Odebrecht recovery process. For the service, you are entitled to receive fees, which today reach R $ 1.1 million per month.
The monthly fee was set by Judge João de Oliveira Rodrigues Filho, of the 1st Bankruptcy Court of São Paulo. The amount of the payments, however, is provisional.
Alvarez & Marsal confirmed at Twitter that has already received the sum of R $ 17.6 million for the recovery of Odebrecht. The final amount to which the company will be entitled for its performance in the process has not yet been defined by the Court. The consulting firm itself suggested that the recovery judge should receive a total of R $ 22.4 million for 30 months of work in the case.
Before, in July 2019, the company had requested to receive R $ 1.5 million a month in fees. Odebrecht, for its part, asked the Court to reduce the fees to R $ 400 thousand per month starting in November, to reach R $ 300 thousand per month starting in May of next year.
Odebrecht was not the only company investigated by Lava Jato that received services from Alvarez & Marsal. The OAS also declared bankruptcy after being implicated in the investigation. In these two cases, the Twitter could not determine how much Alvarez & Marsal received from each company. The consultant did not disclose the value.
