Diagnosed with covid-19 on October 20, the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, got rid of the virus on the last day 4, but, a month after starting treatment, he still feels the effects of the disease. Even so, he resumed his work routine and, throughout this Friday the 27th, he participated in more than seven meetings.
Pazuello complains of tiredness, body aches, and bloating. In conversations with friends, he complains of difficulties in performing daily activities, such as climbing stairs. Although the government defends the use of drugs without proven efficacy to combat the coronavirus, such as hydroxychloroquine, the minister also resorted to antibiotics, corticosteroids and anticoagulants, in addition to serum for hydration.
By participating in the first ceremony after returning to work, on the 11th, Pazuello admitted the seriousness of the illness. “I am not completely recovered, of course. It is a complicated disease. It is difficult for you to return to normality, but we can work a little now. It is the first day of activity at work,” said the minister, who is a general in the army. in a ceremony in Health.
The day before, President Jair Bolsonaro had downplayed the pandemic. He had said that Brazil needed to stop being “a country of ladybugs” and face the disease. “Now everything is a pandemic, we must end this business, damn it! I’m sorry for the dead, I’m sorry. We are all going to die one day, here we are all going to die. There is no use running away from this, fleeing from reality. look at what a full plate for the press, for the vulture on the back ”, protested Bolsonaro, in a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, pointing to the place reserved for journalists.
Two days after the diagnosis, Pazuello himself came to say that it was a “zero bullet” after taking the “complete kit” against covid-19, which includes drugs without proven efficacy for the disease, such as hydroxychloroquine. The statement was broadcast live on social media, along with Bolsonaro. In the video, the president said that Pazuello was “another specific case” that the use of these drugs “worked.”
Although he indicated that he was recovered, Pazuello was admitted on October 30, in the DF Star, one of the most prestigious hospitals in Brasilia, with dehydration. On November 1, he began to be treated at the Hospital das Forças Armadas (HFA). He was discharged on day 3, and shortly thereafter his team reported that the virus was no longer active. Requested yesterday, the Ministry did not pronounce on Pazuello’s health. So far, 13 Bolsonaro ministers have contracted covid-19.
Osmar Terra remains hospitalized
The former Minister of Citizenship and current federal deputy, Osmar Terra (MDB-RS) was admitted on Sunday 22 at the São Lucas Hospital of the PUC in Rio Grande do Sul (HSL-PUCRS), in Porto Alegre. Terra is a denier and has always downplayed the severity of the pandemic and the positive consequences of social isolation.
In social networks, the deputy assured that he would do “complementary physical therapy and evaluation tests in the treatment of covid.” The purpose of the hospitalization, according to him, was “to expedite the return to work as soon as possible. Nine days earlier, Terra had announced the coronavirus infection, stating that he was taking hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, drugs that have not been shown to be effective, but indicated by the Bolsonaro government.
The hospital bulletin on Friday morning, 27, reports that Terra remains hospitalized, “shows a good improvement in her general condition, is stable and has a good respiratory pattern.”
