Caixa reported on Saturday (9) that approximately 3.5 million people who received the first installment of emergency aid have not yet moved the money.
In total, emergency aid was paid to 50 million people. According to Paulo Henrique Angelo, vice president of the Caixa retail chain, 1 in 3 adults in Brazil received the money for low-income people who do not work with a formal contract.
Beneficiaries who did not have a bank account or did not indicate one at the time of registration received the benefit through digital social savings, which must be managed by the Caixa Tem application (Android and iOS). By law, money in these accounts that does not move for 90 days returns to the federal government.
Almost 7 million people withdrew the aid money. Caixa registered 80,000 digital savings withdrawals on Saturday. The bank opened 680 branches between 8 am and 12 pm today to serve beneficiaries.
