More than 100,000 vehicles have passed through the roads of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI) bound for the coast of São Paulo until the early hours of this Saturday (10), causing intense congestion. The expectation is that up to 370 thousand vehicles access Baixada Santista during the holidays of Nossa Senhora Aparecida.

According to Ecovias, the concessionaire that manages the section, about 109 thousand vehicles went down to Serra do Mar between 0:00 on Friday (9) and 8:00 on this Saturday. Between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. alone, more than 6,000 vehicles passed through the tollbooth. Due to the intense movement, Operation Descent (7×3) was implemented around 8:30 am, which must continue until 7:59 pm.
The descent is done by the two lanes of Anchieta and the south lane of Imigrantes. The ascent is done only by the north lane of Imigrantes. On Sunday, Operation Descent should be implemented from 9 am to 1:59 pm. In the second, the concessionaire will carry out the Suburban Operation starting at 10 am, which will continue until 00:59 am on Tuesday (13).
A survey carried out by the Union of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and the Like of Baixada Santista and Vale do Ribeira indicates that the occupancy rate in hotels is already almost half allowed. In Santos, the occupancy is 55%. In Guarujá, 48%. And in São Vicente, 43%. That number may still go up due to last minute bookings.
