The American pharmaceutical company Modern has announced that it will request authorization for the emergency use of its vaccine for covid-19 in the United States and Europe on Monday 30. According to the company, the immunizer was shown to be 94.1% effective in the final results of phase 3 of clinical trials.
On November 16 Moderna had already announced the preliminary results of the studies, with 94.5% effectiveness.
The pharmacist’s study involved 30,000 participants, of whom 196 individuals developed the coronavirus with symptoms, according to the company.
Of these, 185 had taken a placebo, while 11 had received the vaccine.
According to Moderna, the immunizer also appeared to be safe, despite the fact that some participants experienced headaches and other mild to moderate reactions.
“We believe that our vaccine will provide a powerful new tool that can change the course of this pandemic and help prevent serious illness, hospitalizations and deaths,” said Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel.
