On Thursday (4), the Ministry of Health published a new calendar for the delivery of vaccines in March, and with a reduction of almost 8 million doses compared to the calendar published in February. The document delivered to the Senate provides for 38 million doses in March. Initially, it would be 46 million.

According to the ministry, the difference is due to the reduction in AstraZeneca doses – 4 million that would be imported from India should not arrive on time – and Fiocruz, which produces the immunizer in Brazil, also received supplies from China late. In addition, the government had 400,000 doses of Sputnik, which should only arrive in April.

The reduction in the number of doses this month will not be greater because Butantan would have to administer 5 million more doses of CoronaVac.

In the document, the Health Ministry said it expects to buy 13 million doses of Moderna in 2021 and another 50 million in 2022.

In the same session in the Senate, the general director of Anvisa, Antônio Barra Torres, announced that on the 16th he will meet with representatives of Johnson to discuss the emergency use of the vaccine.
