Two miners from Nova Lima, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, drowned in Praia do Forte, in Cabo Frio, in Rio de Janeiro, this Friday (1st). According to the Fire Department, the beaches were completely crowded and because it had rained, the sea was more rough. The corporation did not provide details on how the accident occurred.
The victims are Denis Nogueira and Fabiano Oliveira, and his death was confirmed by a colleague of the two. On Instagram, Nogueira had published that they arrived in Cabo Frio this Friday (1st) and published several photos on the beach. He had also made a video saying that he had left to “go there” and ended up in Rio de Janeiro. Through social networks, friends and family are already mourning the death of both.
The report attempted to contact the press office of the Rio de Janeiro Fire Department, but calls were not returned. The beach was very crowded at the beginning of the year and the police had to disperse the bathers.
Municipal decrees banned crowding on the beaches due to the new coronavirus pandemic, but even so, people flocked to Praia do Forte, without masks and without social distance.
