Last Friday (4), a military policeman was murdered in the city of Mesquita, in Baixada Fluminense, while trying to prevent an assault on an establishment. Corporal Derinaldo Cardoso dos Santos, 34, was surprised and could not resist after being shot point-blank in the head.
The intense scenes were recorded by local security cameras. In them, it is possible to see the moment when the PM enters the store with a gun in his hand and tries to prevent the robbery. However, one of the robbers, also armed, hid behind the goods and stalked, waiting for an opportunity to react against the policeman. Until he leaves his “barrier” behind, he shoots the officer and escapes, along with his partner.

According to G1, Derinaldo was transferred to the General Hospital of Nova Iguaçu (HGNI) in a very serious condition, and was operated on urgently. However, he did not resist and died. TV Band said another person in the store was also shot in the leg, but was not in danger of his life.
According to the newspaper Extra, the body was buried this Saturday (5), in a cemetery in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The corporal, who would be serving 10 years with the corporation next month, leaves behind his wife and two children. With the sad news, the municipality of Mesquita decreed an official three-day duel.
“Yesterday we lost not only someone who fought for the safety and well-being of the entire population of the state of Rio, Cape Cardoso protected, in particular, the population of the Mosque and the people who work or move around the municipality”said the note. The policeman also received tributes in his funeral procession.

The Military Police reported that, shortly after fleeing the scene of the crime, the assailants even stole a town hall car and took the occupants hostage. Later, all were released and the vehicle was abandoned on Avenida Brasil, near Realengo.
According to G1, even on Friday (4), Jhonny Silva Quirino da Cruz was arrested as one of the suspects in the attempted robbery that resulted in the murder of Derinado.
