Coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez, from Independiente del Valle, explained this Wednesday the reasons that made him not immediately accept the invitation to take charge of Palmeiras.

– It is a multi-factor decision making. It is not only the contract and the conditions that it offers you, it is not only the sports project, it is not only what you go, where you go, when you go … There are many factors.

– The decision is never easy. Much less when they call you giants, because the ground shakes, the legs shake, it is very difficult to make a decision like that – said Ramírez.

Then, the technician detailed his moment in Independiente del Valle.

– It is more difficult for me because now I am starting my career in professional football, I have to measure my steps well. And step on solid ground, where I can continue to advance … And speaking specifically of the weight of this group and this project, it is very significant, it is very high. Independiente gave me everything on a professional level. It was the team that allowed me to enter the professional world, dedicate myself professionally to a high level, to be able to live magical nights of the Copa Sudamericana and Libertadores, with a group that we had already been working together, so that everything was easier and faster. They already know me, I know them, with a look that we already understand each other. This has a very large specific gravity – he added.

The Palmeiras board returned to Brazil on Wednesday. In Quito since last Monday, deputy Paulo Buosi and director Anderson Barros went to Ecuador accompanied by a lawyer from the club to close the hiring of Ramírez after a few days of talks.

The Palmeirenses reached an agreement on salaries, contractual conditions and other bureaucratic details, but the Spaniard expressed his desire to leave Independiente del Valle only after the end of this season. Verdão did not accept the request because he believes it is important for the club’s project that the new coach start working immediately.

Back on the market, Palmeiras evaluates other names to take the place left by Vanderlei Luxembourg. The Spanish Quique Setién, a former Barça player, is one of those considered by the club.
