Making comparisons between Xiaomi phones two months ago was something different than doing today. On Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp groups, many are upset by what appears to be the end of the brand’s cost-benefit. Manufacturers like Realme are starting to appear to take advantage of this opportunity.
Even one of the best cost benefits of 2019, the Mi 9, already surpassed by the Mi 10, is more expensive than it was before, and its price begins to approach one of the most expensive intermediaries of all time, the Chinese Mi Note 10 Pro.
And that can raise doubts: is it better to invest in a broker that is newer and has a 108 megapixel camera? Or is it still the best option last year?

Design
Xiaomi Mi 9
In visual and construction, it shows that they are seen a lot. Xiaomi likes to make its phones look like the top of the line so that the premium concept also reaches other categories, and since Mi Note 10 Pro is very expensive, the least we expected is a flagship quality.
Both have an aluminum body with a Gorilla Glass 5 glass back. The finish is well rounded, and although the Mi 9 can have a reflected or holographic effect, the Note 10 Pro only bets on a holographic appearance.
The sound outputs, microphones and similar connections, as well as the buttons and the base, are in practically the same positions. They are dual SIM with no space for microSD and have no protection against dust or water. The Mi 9 has an additional button for the Google Assistant.
The Mi Note 10 Pro, being a lower and not higher category, is more robust, thick and heavy, with its more populated camera module. The Mi 9 has the set of cameras at vertical traffic lights in the same position, but manages to have a slimmer and more elegant body, although they are practically the same size in width and height.

Up front, the notch works out with a drop on both models, but it’s more understated on the Note 10 Pro, which also has a more rounded finish, with a more curved display and more discrete edges. The Mi 9 has an older face nearby, but it’s better to use it with fewer curves. The biometrics of both are below the screen, and the Mi 9 is faster and more accurate.
The Note 10 Pro is more robust but has a better resolved front than the Mi 9, but this is the point for biometrics and overall construction.

Multimedia and resources
screen
At first, it may seem like we have the same screens, but small differences separate them. The size variation is small, from 6.39 inches on the Mi 9 to 6.46 inches on the Mi Note 10 Pro. Both are FullHD + with an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9.
The body’s screen ratio is slightly higher on the Mi Note 10 Pro and its curved display, but in contrast, the Mi 9 is a Super AMOLED versus the AMOLED of the broker, and it also meets 100% of the DCI color spectrum- P3, HDR10 compatible as your rival
In brightness, both are quite acceptable for use in the sun, but the Mi 9 manages to have a little more intensity when in automatic.

Sound

In external sound, the Mi 9 ends up being a bit better in volume and clarity, which are only reasonable in its competition. For the sound of the headphones, the Mi Note 10 Pro offers better performance and will please those who use good quality headphones in quality. For wireless headphones both have high quality AptX HD protocol.

System
Our competitors are from Xiaomi, so we are talking about the same interface on Android, MIUI. Although Mi 9 was released with Android 9 Pie, it already received Android 10 with the new MIUI 11. Note 10 Pro has MIUI 11, but with Android 9 Pie still.
There are chances of the Mi 9 coming to Android 11, but both should be upgraded to MIUI 12. Overall, MIUI is a feature rich interface, theme possibility, and dark mode, plus gesture navigation and always present on screen in both of them.
For connections, the presence of infrared on both phones is welcome, but FM radio can only be found on the Note 10 Pro, the only one with a P2 connection. In the rest, they are very similar, with updated WiFi and Bluetooth and NFC, and the GPS of the Mi 9 is a little better.
The point is with the Mi 9, more updated and with more potential for future updates.

And it is in performance that we have one of the clear differences between an intermediary and a leader, even if the latter is from last year. The Mi 9 has a Snapdragon 855 chipset and versions with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM. The Mi Note 10 Pro brings the Snapdragon 730G chipset and 8 GB of RAM.
Although our tests were done with the model with less RAM than the Mi 9, it still stood out compared to its competitor, and its 48 seconds in the opening test are 17 less than the results of the Note 10 Pro., Mi 9 was also far superior in results.
Although the 730G is newer than the 855, it is still a flagship processor, and its greater relationship with software also helps with performance speed. In games, although the Mi Note 10 Pro set is great for gaming, it may have one or the other obstacle, while the Mi 9 works without muzzling any titles.
They don’t have a microSD card slot, but the Note 10 Pro comes with 256GB, while the Mi 9 has multiple versions ranging from 64GB to 256GB. The connections are very similar, with updated WiFi and Bluetooth, NFC and an infrared port. The GPS of the Mi 9 is more complete and, in contrast, the Note 10 Pro brings the FM radio.

Drums
As a good intermediary, the Mi Note 10 Pro brings more battery than the main rival. There are 5,260 mAh against 3,300 mAh for the Mi 9, a huge physical difference. This led to a substantial difference in overall duration.
Our tests showed more than 24 hours of continuous use for the Mi Note 10 Pro, while the Mi 9 kept 9 hours less. The flagship was no longer known for its high battery life, and near this other phone, this becomes clearer.
On screen it was 5 hours longer for the Mi Note 10 Pro than almost 8 hours for the Mi 9. And if you think this would mean less recharging time for the Mi 9, another surprise: one hour and eight minutes in between , against an hour and fourteen minutes on Mi 9.
The charger that comes in the box of the Mi Note 10 Pro is 30W, while that of the Mi 9 is 25W. The Mi 9 only has some advantage in wireless charging as it is the only smartphone here with this technology.

Cameras
When launched, the Mi 9 was successful in placing Xiaomi at a level of quality equal to that of other famous companies for that, such as Samsung, Huawei and Google. However, the highlight of the Mi Note 10 Pro is precisely its camera, which is what makes it expensive and is in this comparison. The set of the two comprises:
- Mi 9: 48 megapixels main width with f / 1.8 aperture, PDAF and Laser AF; 12 megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and PDAF; 16 megapixel ultra wide with PDAF.
- Mi Note 10 Pro: 108 megapixels main width with f / 1.7 aperture, PDAF, laser AF, and optical stabilization; 12 megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and Dual Pixel PDAF; 5 megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and PDAF and optical stabilization; 20 megapixel ultra wide; 2 megapixel macro.
Immediately, we see that the Mi Note 10 Pro set consists of many more cameras and brings the 108 megapixel sensor, which at its launch was a novelty and was well commented. The photos with the Mi 9 are very interesting, and if you use the full potential of the 48 megapixels, you will get more sharpness, saturation and contrast.
They are good images, and the dark mode works better than Samsung’s with some frequency, and the ultra wide also works well. But Xiaomi has managed to do a great job on the Mi Note 10 Pro, even with an intermediate processor, and the image results of this phone compete with the top lines of other manufacturers.
The highlights are the two telephoto sensors, which achieve a high-quality zoom similar to that of a Huawei like the P30 Pro, and also the ultra-wide-angle lens. And if we generally expect little from low-light photos from brokers, the Mi Note 10 Pro shows that it can be close to pixel-quality.
The Mi 9 is good, but the Mi Note 10 Pro is more careful and gets the point.

For videos, only the Mi 9 captures 4K at up to 60fps, and for the Note 10 Pro only 30fps left. If that is not a determining factor for you, you will have optical stabilization in this intermission, which may be more interesting, since shakes can appear a lot in Mi 9.
Super slow motion recording in FullHD is also only from the Mi 9, and the audio capture is well balanced in both.

For selfies, the Mi 20 20-megapixel camera with f / 2.0 aperture rivals the 32-megapixel camera with f / 2.0 aperture. This leads to great selfies on both devices, but while the Mi Note 10 Pro has great details, there is a problem.

Price
Price is a sad part here. On another occasion, a few months ago, we compared the Mi 9 with the Zenfone 6, and the Xiaomi flagship was found, imported, for much less than the R $ 2,700 value of the Asus device. Now, not only has the Zenfone 6 increased, but the Mi 9 has disappeared from the markets in Brazil and is much more expensive at import sites, thanks to the very high dollar.
Therefore, what was a very expensive value for the Mi Note 10 Pro, now practically coincides with the Mi 9. On import sites, the average price of the broker is R $ 3,800, while the 2019 flagship , in a compatible model, it costs around R $ 4,800. The cheapest model, however, can be found for approximately R $ 2,800, coming at a good cost benefit here.

As Xiaomi set out to order on the Mi Note 10 Pro, it did. The battery and camera, compared to its own flagship at the time, are truly superior. But that made him an unusually expensive broker.
TudoCelular recommended the Mi 9, already last year, for being very balanced and offering a good set for the sale price, and even in 2020 it is still a good option if you get a good price or take the simpler model.
Although the Mi Note 10 Pro is very interesting, and a point outside the curve, the requested price does not coincide with its processing and the treatment that Xiaomi gives to its intermediaries. So in this comparison, the Mi 9 is a better choice, unless you want a big battery with a great camera without bothering to spend the price of an iPhone 11 on specific promotions.
