A family of four – including two children, a ten-year-old boy and a three-month-old girl – died after the driver lost control of his vehicle on a road in the district of Curral Novo, in Minas Gerais, and fell into the Bandeirinhas stream. . Three other occupants of the car were seriously injured and were taken to the Santa María hospital, located in the city of Antônio Carlos.
According to information from witnesses, the tragedy occurred shortly after a moment of joy and excitement for all: the baby’s christening, carried out yesterday. The couple, who were about 35 years old according to initial information, would have woken up early today to take the trio of friends home, around 6 am – they went to Curral Novo especially to participate in the celebration.
When the vehicle fell, the baby was thrown 200 meters from the scene of the tragedy. Although the stream is not very bulky, the car prevented the water from running its normal course, concentrating on the place. As a result, those who did not die at the time of the tragedy struggled to get out of the vehicle.
According to information from the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department, the car was removed with the support of a tractor so that professionals could have access to the occupants, who were trapped in the hardware.
After the investigation, the bodies were sent to the Medical Legal Institute.
