Bólido, as it is also called, reached a speed of 55.3 thousand km / h and exploded near the municipality of Tiros, in the Triangle, at 30 km altitude.

In the early hours of last Friday (8), there were several reports from residents of mining towns such as Patos de Minas, in Alto Paranaíba, and Lagoa da Prata, in the Midwest, of the passing of a meteorite in the sky, followed by a strong explosion. See images:

According to the Brazilian Meteor Observation Network (Bramon), the event took place at 03:25 in Brasilia time and is a very bright meteorite, also called a bolide.

According to preliminary analyzes, the object followed a path from south to north, beginning its light phase at about 64 km altitude, between Araxá, in Alto Paranaíba, and Uberaba, in Triángulo. Then, it continued with high brightness in the northeast direction at a speed of 15.36 km / s (55.3 thousand km / h), until it exploded at an altitude of 30 km, near the municipality of Tiros, also in the Triangle.

“The analysis is still being improved so that we can determine the initial mass of the object, but the images suggest that some fragments of this meteoroid possibly survived the atmospheric passage and reached the ground,” said Bramon.
