Meeting, tour of the club and a good impression: Abel Ferreira’s first day in Palmeiras | palms

Accompanied by his coaching staff, the Portuguese visited the Soccer Academy and learned about the club’s structure. Then, he saw Verdão’s 3-0 win over Atlético-MG, at Allianz Parque.

At 41 years old, Abel Ferreira is a young bet from a traditional school for the training of soccer coaches and professionals. With him came the assistants Vitor Castanheira and Carlos Martinho, the physical trainer João Martins and the analyst José Magalhães.

During the tour of the Soccer Academy, the coach spoke with President Maurício Galiotte, Vice Presidents Paulo Buosi and Alexandre Zanotta, Soccer Director Anderson Barros, Base Categories Director Marcelo Dedeschi and Technical Advisor Edu Dracena. He was attentive to the details of the structure and also to the history of the club.

There was also a first meeting with Cícero Souza, manager, and João Paulo Sampaio, coordinator of the grassroots categories. The Portuguese learned about the day-to-day processes of the Soccer Academy, which hosted the U-20 team for training last Monday.

The characteristic of taking advantage of the base was one of the reasons that made Palmeiras decide to hire Abel Ferreira. There is an internal understanding that the good work of the club in the lower divisions can now be improved, added to the knowledge and experience of the new committee.

The only contact with the athletes was quick, after the victory against Atlético-MG, in the changing rooms of the Allianz Parque.

But there are already reports of knowledge about players and the moment of the team, which made a good impression among Palmeirenses.

The official start of the works will be this Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m., when Verdão re-presents himself at the Soccer Academy.
