A ghoulish plot that resulted in the deaths of four friends, assassination attempts, assault and kidnapping. The massacre on the island Dr. Américo de Oliveira, in Vitória, this Monday (28), shocked the residents, relatives and friends of the victims and challenges the security forces of Espírito Santo.

Yuri Carlos de Souza, 23 years old
Yuri worked as a production assistant at a third-party company, but lost her job during the Covid-19 pandemic. In conversation with the TV Gazeta report, the mother said that the son was always a worker and was not involved in crimes. An aunt of the boy also said that he used to go to the island where the crime occurred, often accompanied by childhood friends.

Pablo Ricardo Lima, 21 years old
Pablo was helped by his uncle, who heard the sound of gunfire on the island and went to the place. The boy was admitted to the São Pedro Emergency Department, but arrived dead at the unit.

Victor was the last victim to be identified. The young man’s mother said the boy had moved from Campo Grande, in Cariacica, to Santo Antônio, in Vitória, about two months ago. Lived with a friend. Unemployed, Victor’s last job was working as a bricklayer’s assistant.

Preliminary information from the Civil Police reports that the defendants of the Ilha Massacre are involved in drug trafficking in a region known as Morro do Quiabo, in Cariacica, and that they went to the site to execute rivals of a criminal faction that operates in Vitória.
After disembarking at the scene, the criminals registered the identity of the group with photos and videos. The head of DHPP Vitória, delegate Marcelo Cavalcanti, reported that the material was sent to a contact who was not on the island so that this person could confirm whether the suspects were really the desired targets.
Despite the denial that the youths were criminals, the armed group decided to execute the targets. Yuri, Wesley, and Victor died on the island. Pablo was rescued by boat by an uncle who heard the noise of the shots and went to the scene. He arrived at the São Pedro Emergency Department, but died in the unit.
A young man who was also with the group was shot twice in the back and also entered the São Pedro Emergency Department, after being rescued by another colleague who also escaped. The victim of the shooting was later transferred to the State Hospital for Emergencies and Emergencies (HEUE), also in the capital.
The survivor, who was said to be a minor, says he was fishing at the site and did not see who shot him. He would have escaped by swimming. The other two men who were on the island, but away from the group shot, managed to escape and were not hit by any shots.

In the material it is also possible to observe a person swimming a few meters from the alleged perpetrators. There is no confirmation if she was one of the victims shot. The material was examined by the police, according to the head of the DHPP in Vitória, Marcelo Cavalcanti.
“The police are sure that there are at least five involved and that the video is real, with technical evidence to affirm that. The suspects have already been identified. In the investigation work we will arrive at the responsibility of this crime. Working with the war traffic ”, said the delegate.

The young man was placed in the trunk of a car and was saved after a team from the National Force visualized an injured hand outside the vehicle. Four suspects in the kidnapping of the victim were arrested and taken to the police station. One is a teenager.
They were charged with kidnapping, criminal association, personal injury and corruption of minors. All testified before the Civil Police. According to information provided by delegate Marcelo Cavalcanti, the intention of the kidnappers was to promote an attack in an area where the rivals were active in Cariacica.
“They say they would go to Morro do Quiabo to try to counteract the situation that happened with friends in Santo Antônio. For that, they would be with a person in the suitcase, who supposedly would have passed that information, who would also be executed. This fact should be better investigated ”, he declares.
