Marinho was, once again, the highlight of Santos on Tuesday night. Facing almost 3,000 meters of altitude, the forward suffered a penalty and scored the winning goal for Peixe by 2 to 1 over LDU, in Quito, Ecuador, for the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16. Despite the advantage, the player asked the team not to be enthusiastic about the result.
Voted the best on the field this Tuesday, Marinho said at a press conference that Santos did not go to Ecuador to draw, despite the height problems.
– Regardless of the altitude, we would come here to win. We know that LDU is very strong when it plays here, but we also know our potential. It was a great game. And we had the happiness of a great job. We have to keep our feet on the ground and work hard, because in Brazil it will also be a difficult match – said the forward.
