Marília Campos (PT) was elected this Sunday (29) to govern Contagem for the next four years. With 100% of the votes counted, the candidate obtained 51.35% of the valid votes.
Felipe Saliba (PRTB) obtained 48.65% of the votes.

The election in Contagem had a 22.94% abstention, 3.94% white votes and 8.73% invalid votes.

The count was tight. The candidates took turns in leadership more than four times. With 97% of polls counted, the difference came to just four votes. At the end of the count, Marília had 147,768 votes and Saliba 139,987 votes.
“Now he is thinking about the future, you know. I think now he is getting off the platform and ruling with everyone for everyone. There was no division, there was positioning of the city, now he is working for unity,” said the candidate after the electoral results.
Marília Campos is 59 years old, married, has an absolute superior and declares to the TSE the occupation of deputy. She was mayor of Contagem for two terms between 2005 and 2012. Marília has a declared patrimony of R $ 839,538.64.
She was the first to vote this Sunday. Marília arrived at 9:30 am at the Helena Guerra State School, in the Eldorado neighborhood, accompanied by supporters of the campaign.
Contagem is the second largest city in Grande BH and has almost 700 thousand inhabitants, distributed in 300 neighborhoods (between regular and irregular). The main economic activities of the municipality are services, commerce and industry.
In the first round, according to data from the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), Marília had 118,955 votes, 41.83% of the votes and Felipe Saliba had 52,371, which represents 18.42% of the votes.
The election in Contagem had 19.99% abstention, 6.43% white votes and 10.44% invalid votes.
