In her first press conference as mayor of Juiz de Fora, Margarida Salomão (PT), accompanied by the secretariat, announced, on Monday (4), what she called the Life Protection Forum, whose purpose is to review the actions that They have been taken in relation to the functioning of the different economic sectors of the city. According to the mayor, a “renegotiation” will be necessary so that the new measures adopted are directed to the particularities of each segment. The Forum will be launched this Tuesday, at 5 in the afternoon, and will have representatives from the City Council, the Legislature and civil society, represented by the business class and workers. Thus, in her government, the mayor will not continue with the Municipal Committee for Coping and Prevention of Covid-19, instituted under the management of former mayor Antônio Almas (PSDB). At the meeting, the CEO also announced the creation of a Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Table, and commented on the cleaning actions that the City Council has been taking since last Saturday.

Regarding the possibility of leaving Juiz de Fora of the state Conscious Mines program, Margarida declined and said that a definition will be established on Tuesday, depending on the discussions prepared by the group. “This will be released tomorrow (Tuesday). We are in dialogue, I listen to people. Workers, business sectors, gyms, restaurants, come up to me and talk about their afflictions. And we are building a solution that tomorrow, collectively, will be forwarded by all these sectors. This Tuesday we will have a definitive reference ”. This Monday morning, the mayor met with representatives of the Juiz de Fora Business and Commercial Association (ACEJF) and discussed the situation of the sector in the city, whose operation has been suspended since the 25th due to the decline of the Municipality to the Red Wave of Conscious Mines.

At a press conference, Margarida avoided talking about resuming the operation of certain sectors, but said that the Forum is being created so that new actions can be taken. Thus, starting this Tuesday, changes in the operation of some sectors, including the commercial one, may be defined. “Our definitions will include health, social security and economic aspects. We will review the restrictions for each sector of social life. For example, the restrictions that must be applied to a school are different from those that must be applied in restaurants and hotels. We want to differentiate the restrictions at the same time that each of these sectors will assume its responsibility for health security, with the commitment of a strong supervision by the City Council. We cannot have a situation of formal restrictions and, in practice, civil disobedience ”.

According to Margarida, the Forum will also discuss the situation of urban public transport. “The way it’s working, it promotes crowding. And one of the most important measures to reduce the risk of contagion is social distance, “he said.

Contingency and immunization plans

Regarding the Municipal Contingency Plan for Covid-19, the Government plans to increase the number of intensive beds for the treatment of the disease starting next week. According to the Secretary of Health, Ana Pimentel, the Municipality is working to agree on new teams in parallel with the development of the already announced Municipal Immunization Plan.

“We are working to requalify the Municipality’s Contingency Plan to face this increase in cases in the coming weeks. We already have an agreement with the Doutor João Penido Regional Hospital -reference in the treatment of Covid-19 in Juiz de Fora and region-, which has a physical structure to receive the new beds. Our greatest challenge is obtaining human resources, which today is a national dilemma ”, he quotes. Despite this, Ana reported that the ministry is in dialogue with the Government of Mines, so that a new pact of professionals for the hospital is carried out and the new beds are effectively opened.

The purpose of the instance is to discuss and seek possible solutions to the social conflicts that arise in the city. To be installed next Thursday (7), at 4 pm, initially, the Board will discuss the situation of the community in Bairro Poço Rico, Southeast Region, where the Viaduto do Tupynambás was inaugurated on the 22nd.

As Tribuna shows, the residents are unhappy with the closure of the train crossing at the corner of Pinto de Moura and Bahía streets.

“We are creating this figure by decree, which is precisely to offer a forum to solve the problems that arise in the day-to-day of the city. This table will open with the problem of road works in Poço Rico. The community of Poço Rico, MRS Logística, will participate in the mediation of the City Council. He said we would address this immediately in my inaugural address and I am keeping my word. “

Cleaning shock

On the occasion, the mayor also took stock of the cleaning actions carried out in the city. Announced on the 30th to begin on Monday, the measures were to begin already on Saturday (2), due to the heavy rains that hit the city and caused great losses and damages in the current “stress of the urban structure of Juiz de Fora. Outside”.

“Regarding the cleaning shock, the“ Boniteza operation ”, in fact, started as an SOS operation due to the rains of the weekend. We had to deal with many difficulties, but in a coordinated action by Demlurb, with the Department of Works, Empav, Cesama and other departments that had to be called, such as the Department of Health and the Department of Sports, we were able to meet the highest demands possible. This was a very positive point at the beginning of our mandate, mainly due to the dedication of the employees ”, he quoted.
