The right-back of Botafogo, Marcinho is identified by the police as one of the suspects of running over a couple in Recreio, a neighborhood in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, last Wednesday night (30). The information was published by the magazine “Época” and confirmed by LANCE!
Professors Alexandre Silva de Lima and María Cristina José Soares were trying to cross the street when they were run over by a Mini Cooper, identified as a possible Marcinho car. The man died and the woman was injured. The driver fled the crash site without providing assistance.
The vehicle was seized at the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital. Wanted for sports, Botafogo said that he is investigating the facts before pronouncing himself. The player’s contract with the club ends today (31).
The police are now looking for Marcinho to give a statement about the accident according to LANCE! As of this writing, the right-back has yet to be found speaking to any police station.
