According to the coach’s press office, he asked to leave the club.

Through his social networks, Bahia announced the dismissal of the coach.

– Esporte Clube Bahia announces that Mano Menezes is no longer the coach of the squad. On this same occasion, we take the opportunity to announce that, in relation to the serious accusation of racism involving the Colombian Indio Ramírez, the club will take a position shortly after completing the investigation of the case – the text says.

Mano Menezes arrived in Bahia in September of this year to replace Roger Machado, with a contract valid until the end of 2021. His arrival was surrounded by good expectations, as the team had defensive problems. The coach, however, could not remedy the failures, and Bahia maintains the record of the worst defense of Brasileirão, after suffering 46 goals in 26 games.

In total, Bahía played 24 games under Mano Menezes, with eight wins, two draws and 14 losses (36.1%) *.

– First, this is a matter of extreme gravity, which involves the world and, consequently, also Brazil. We don’t have any reports, we don’t have a picture, we don’t have Ramirez telling Gerson any of that. So when we don’t, we logically side with our player. What seemed to us at that time was that we had grown in the game, we had done it 2 to 1, and that there was an attempt to paralyze the game, make trouble, take out a player of ours also with a red card to equalize things. But Gerson is an extremely serious player, he deserves respect. And the club will follow up, an investigation, of what really happened. Bahía is very committed to this. No one on our technical committee would support any kind of situation like this. So, if after the conversation with the player things become clear, probably tomorrow or when the team returns, probably not only will the court make a complaint, but Bahia will also take action, because there is no sense of this. kind of attitude, if it ever happened, ‘he said.

– Regarding the field discussions, Gerson was very upset. He cursed everyone, and then there was an attempt on our part to defend ours, but always within the question of the game, nothing to defend the wrong attitude. Without the wrong attitude it happened, I do not defend myself and, because of the conversation I had with President Guilherme [Bellintani], and according to the history of Bahia, there will be no defense of something wrong, if it happened. But let’s see what exactly happened – completed the coach.

After the game, Gerson del Flamengo revealed that he had been the victim of a racial injury by Ramírez during the game against Tricolor de Bahía and criticized the behavior of coach Mano menezes. The Premiere broadcast captured the audio of Gerson complaining to Mano about Ramirez; Coach then says that Gerson’s complaint would be a hoax (see the video above).

“He called me black,” Gerson said.

“Now he’s become a trickster,” Mano replied.

– Tricks? Tricks, no. You respect me! Gerson replied.

Then, the Bahian coach replied.

– Rogério … Are you not going to expel him? He is ordering to take **. It was in the face of the judge that he ordered the **. If it happened … If we were wrong, we are wrong. We don’t want to be right if we are wrong. But that boy wasn’t going to do that to Gerson. I know the player, he arrived now, he is a child – defended the Bahian coach.

– How long did the game pause? How long was the game stopped now because of Gerson? You have to stick your nose out of Daniel (Alves, with whom Gerson argued in the last games between Flamengo and São Paulo). You have to take the pick of Daniel, who is more rascal than you. He wants to rule everyone … He wants to rule the game – added Mano.

* Mano spent time out of Bahia after being diagnosed with Covid-19 and was not on the court at all games.
