According to the Military Police, teams from the Tijuca Presente Program emptied the establishment. Later, negotiating agents from the Police Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) arrived at the scene. The other units in the area isolate the region. The occurrence continues in progress.
A young man arrived at the scene and introduced himself to the police who are negotiating with the kidnapper. There is information that he would be the victim’s youngest son. A nephew of hers is also on site.
The kidnapped man and woman are in the background of Rico’s Snack, as BOPE police officers try to negotiate to free her. According to the first information, she would have entered the place to buy food, when she later took a knife and held it.
Little by little, customers and employees, who had to jump over the counter, left the cafeteria. Many bystanders were at the entrance to the site, but were removed by officers after the area was isolated. Rua General Roca is closed between Rua Barão de Mesquita and Rua Conde de Bonfim. Traffic is difficult in the region.
According to the spokesperson for the Chief Minister Marlisa de Oliveira Amorim Neves, the woman is fine and it is likely that there is some link between the kidnapped and the victim. The man says disjointed phrases and makes no demands.
– She is fine. We believe the negotiation will move forward and he will surrender. So far, we have had no family contact. There is some link between the two, we just don’t know if it is a mother and her child or a couple. The television is on and we cannot transmit much information, the spokeswoman told reporters.
