A 42-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Belo Horizonte (MG) on suspicion of running over and killing his mother-in-law. He took responsibility for the crime. The homicide would have occurred after an argument between the two about the fact that his partner, the victim’s daughter, was a prostitute.
According to information from the Military Police, the victim was rescued, but died of multiple trauma at the João XXIII Hospital.
Even so, according to the PM, the crime occurred in the Paraíso neighborhood, at 9:04 p.m., and was registered as a completed murder. Célia Maria de Moraes Costa, 60, was on the sidewalk of her house when she was run over by a man in a white truck. According to witnesses, the victim was pressed against the gate of the residence, which was knocked over by the impact of the crash.
After being run over, the suspect left the scene without providing assistance. Neighbors called the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu), which rescued Célia alive and sent her to the João XXIII hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim immediately went to the operating room, but could not resist his injuries.
Prison
The Military Police reported that, during the registration of the event, the suspect’s companion, whose identity will be preserved, filed a complaint against him for a threat. Shortly afterwards, the police received a complaint that the man with the white truck was in the parking lot of the Baptist Church, in the Lagoinha neighborhood.
The complainant said that the boy arrived at the scene saying that he had run over his mother-in-law and had fled. Then the prime minister went to the church and made the arrest.
Prostitute
According to information from the prime minister, the boy was questioned by the police and said he discovered that his partner was a prostitute and that he maintained an erotic relationship page on the internet. The suspect allegedly said that after the discovery he left armed with a knife in search of the woman and, when he arrived at the house, his mother-in-law was on the sidewalk. Then he threw the car at the old woman.
The Civil Police said that the suspect was caught on the spot and will be taken to the prison system. UOL questioned the police if the man already has a consummate defense, but did not receive a response until the publication of this report.
