The medical bulletin of the candidate for mayor of Goiânia for MDB, Maguito Vilela, reports this Tuesday (24) that the politician has undergone tracheostomy surgery, which consists of opening a small hole in the throat, directly in the trachea, to help you breathe. The procedure was uneventful, according to the doctors.

Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, the politician remains connected to the ECMO machine, which mimics the natural function of the lungs and the heart, in addition to preserving these organs while healing occurs . According to the bulletin, the equipment is connected to the minimum standards of operation.

Diagnosed more than a month ago with coronavirus, Maguito has a stable clinical picture, despite being sedated and intubated.
