The elected mayor of Goiânia, Maguito Vilela (MDB), is in “deep sedation” in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Albert Einstein hospital, in São Paulo, according to the medical bulletin released at 8 pm this Friday ( eleven). His condition worsened after bleeding from the lungs.

The pulmonologist Marcelo Rabahi, who has accompanied Maguito since his first hospitalization in Goiânia, said that the elected mayor suffered from instability in blood pressure during the day, but that the condition is now under control.

“He had hemodynamic instability with control at this time. He still has a tracheostomy, but he needs deeper sedation to allow adequate ventilation, ”the bulletin says.

In the early hours of Friday, Maguito had to undergo surgery to control the bleeding in his lungs, identified the night before.

“I had a hematoma (pleural bleeding) that drained, and that was insufficient to control the condition. Then he decided on a videothoracoscopy. With that the bleeding was controlled ”, said the doctor.

Hours before the bleeding was discovered on Thursday, Daniel Vilela, Maguito’s son and president of the MDB in Goiás, had said that his father, during a visit, “demonstrated that he was fully aware of the election and of the fact that the mayor was elected. ” At that time, Daniel also said that upon being informed about the matter, Maguito “smiled and made an affirmative gesture.”

In a bulletin issued by the hospital the day before, Wednesday (9), it was reported that Maguito had been tracheostomized, with mechanical ventilation in protective mode and continuous dialysis, to help the functioning of the kidneys. In addition, he had “extended periods of awakening.”
