Federal judge Luiz Antônio Bonat accepted on Friday (23) the complaint against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) offered last Monday (14) by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF). With that, the PT becomes accused for the fourth time in Lava Jato in Paraná.
The MPF accuses the former president of laundering R $ 4 million through official Odebrecht donations to the Lula Institute, between December 2013 and March 2014. Former minister Antônio Palocci and the president of the Lula Institute, Paulo, were also charged. Okamotto.
According to the MPF, the illicit amounts were transferred through four simulated donations made by the Odebrecht Group in favor of the Lula Institute, each for an amount of R $ 1 million.
Prosecutors say Odebrecht’s loans to former President Lula stemmed from crimes committed against Petrobras and followed the same system of deduction of bribes to contractors with the PT, which has already been recognized in criminal cases tried by the courts. Federal Court of First and Second Instance.
According to the complaint, the amounts were deducted from the credit for illicit bribery registered in the “Italian Spreadsheet”, more specifically from the subaccount called “friend” (heading referring to Lula, according to the evidence), in which the annotation was inserted “Institute of donations 2014”. for the value of R $ 4 million, as shown in the reproduction of the form included in the complaint.
Lula’s defense alleges that the donations “are duly documented through vouchers issued by the Lula Institute – which should not be confused with the person of the former president – and were duly accounted for.”
The lawyers of the PT also demand the sentence of the PT’s resources in the STF that ask the suspicion of the Lava Jato working group and former judge Sergio Moro. “This new attack by Lava Jato against Lula reinforces the need to acknowledge the suspicion of the Curitiba prosecutors in relation to the former president, which is pending analysis by the Federal Supreme Court, as well as the need to return to the judge’s suspicion. the former judge Sergio Moro – so that the processes opened by Lava Jato of Curitiba in relation to Lula are annulled ”, say the lawyers.
Other lawsuits against Lula
Lula has already been convicted in two Lava Jato cases in Curitiba: the Guarujá triplex and the Atibaia site, which have already been tried by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and in second instance, respectively.
The petista is still responding to a lawsuit in the Federal Court of Curitiba in which he is accused of corruption and money laundering for the purchase of land to build a new headquarters for the Lula Institute and for renting a property in São Bernardo do Campo. The case is in the final arguments stage.
