OR Luiza stores (MGLU3) announced on Monday the purchase of the fintech payment hub Prepaid for R $ 290 million, expanding the offer of financial products to its platform clients.

The company said that Hub developed the entire banking structure to offer financial products through a digital account, which has 4 million accounts of this type, in addition to prepaid cards, assets that moved 6.6 billion reais in the last 12 months. This transaction flow generated an unaudited gross income of R $ 159 million.

The retail chain stated that customers of its platform will now have a prepaid card that will reflect their digital account balance, while allowing transactions in the physical world.

Hub started operations in 2021 and is regulated by central bank payment entity, in addition to being integrated into the PIX, instant payment and transfer system recently launched by BC.
