Edinson Cavani’s future remains a mystery. The striker has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 30 and has already been the target of several clubs around the world. As for Diego Lugano, the Uruguayan compatriot will wear the São Paulo shirt.

In an interview with Club Octubre, from Argentina, the former defender was asked about the possibility of Cavani closing with Boca Juniors, but, among some laughs, he put Tricolor as a candidate to sign the scorer.

– I think, before Boca, he comes with me to São Paulo. I’ve been talking about this for a long time, years ago, it’s not new … what am I going to answer? What do you think? – said Lugano, today superintendent of institutional relations in São Paulo.

Lugano and Cavani played together for the Uruguayan team for many years, playing in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. The forward also played with Daniel Alves at Paris Saint-Germain.

At the end of last year, Lugano commented on the possibility of Cavani leaving France, but admitted that the player’s return to South America would be impossible due to wages.

But it is not only São Paulo that has an eye on Cavani. In early April, Walter Fernando Guglielmone, the player’s businessman and half brother, stated that Flamengo, Internacional and Palmeiras are interested in the PSG striker.
