Conmebol today held the draw for the round of 16 of the current edition of the Libertadores. The highlight was for two classics between Brazilians and Argentines.
Internacional and Boca Juniors is one of the clashes. The Argentine Eduardo Coudet’s team faces the team led by Sebastián Beccacece.
The current champion of the tournament, Flamengo, from Domenec Torrent, will also challenge an “Argentine quarry”: the Rio club will face Racing.
Palmeiras, meanwhile, drew with Ecuadorians Delfín at the start of the playoff.
At this stage, the remaining 16 teams in the competition face each other in a back-and-forth game system. The winners go to the quarterfinals.

Boca Juniors x International
What are the keys like?
Palmeiras escaped, in addition to Flamengo and Santos, the Grenal and Boca-River couples until the final. The São Paulo club has change on its side, instead, teams like Independiente Del Valle, Atlético and River Plate.
In the first part of the table, the winner of Guaraní x Grêmio faces anyone who advances between LDU x Santos. On this side of the key are also the owners of the “classic Brazil x Argentina”: Internacional, Boca Juniors, Racing and Flamengo. Of the last four, only one will be in the semifinal.
The other side of the key, in theory, is more “calm” and has Palmeiras among those present: Independiente Del Valle or Nacional-URU will catch Atlético or River Plate in the quarterfinals. Hence, a semifinalist leaves, against Libertad, Jorge Wilstermann, Palmeiras or Delfín.
How was the draw?
The system was carried out through a division between the 16 participants, who were separated into two pots.
In Pot 1, the top eight of each group were listed (Flamengo, Palmeiras, Jorge Wilstermann, River Plate, Grêmio, Nacional-URU, Santos and Boca Juniors).
Pot 2, for its part, brought together the vice-leaders of each key: Independiente del Valle, Guaraní, Atlético-PR, LDU, Internacional, Racing, Delfín and Libertad.
The only rule for the change to the round of 16 was the existence of clashes between the 1st and 2nd classified teams in each group.
Command order
All teams that were in Pot 1, and that are first in the list of duels, will play the game at home.
From the quarter-finals, the team that had the best campaign in the group stage decides in their stadium.
Does the goal serve as a tiebreaker?
Yes. Unlike the Copa do Brasil, Libertadores maintains the away goal rule in its knockout phase. That is, in the event of a tie, the player who scored the most goals while playing outside their domain advances.
