Federal judge Marcelo Bretas was hospitalized on Monday (4) after seeing worsening symptoms of covid-19, which he had been treating at home. According to Guilherme Amado’s column, on the Época magazine website, the magistrate confirmed that he had contracted the new coronavirus and reported that he decided to go to the Casa de Saúde São José, in Humaitá, South Zone of Rio, just in case.

“I’m fine. I was treating at home, but I had to be hospitalized. The rooms here are adapted, semi-ICU, if necessary,” he said.

According to the hospital, the judge responsible for the Lava Jato Task Force in Rio de Janeiro, ended up in the unit for tests. His state of health is considered stable.

“Casa de Saúde São José confirms that Judge Marcelo Bretas has been in the unit since yesterday (Monday) for examinations, with a stable health condition. There is no authorization from the family to obtain more details about the clinical condition,” says the statement issued by the health unit on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday morning, the judge shared a biblical passage in the stories on his Instagram page. “Don’t be afraid or scared,” says an excerpt from the text highlighted by the magistrate.
