The rumors started when Kim did not participate on April 15 in Kim Il-Sung’s 108th birthday celebrations, First dictator of North Korea and grandfather of the current president. Assassinated in 1994, he is still considered the “great leader” of the North Korean regime.

According to a statement released by KCNA on Wednesday, Bashar al-Assad had sent a message in honor of Kim Il-Sung, justifying the thanks released today. In common, Syria and North Korea have strained relations with the United States.

After the news that Kim missed her grandfather’s birthday, early rumors said that the dictator did not participate as a preventive measure against the new coronavirus pandemic. North Korea officially says it has no Covid-19 case.
