Killed with a cut on her neck, Karolina was orphaned and dreamed of having a family

At age 13, Karolina de Souza Silva began her first courtship. An orphan, the teenager dreamed of starting a family. However, this and other plans were not realized. At 17, the young woman was murdered. The ex-boyfriend, with whom she has had a troubled relationship for the past four years, between comings and goings, confessed to the crime. Gustavo David Coutinho, 19, was arrested shortly after telling that he cut the victim’s neck with a steel saw in São Pedro, Vitória, at dawn on Thursday (10).

According to the family, the accused was always jealous and did not accept the end of the courtship. For fear of reprisals, the relatives of the victim interviewed in this article preferred not to be identified.

After the death of her father from cancer, Karolina left her mother, who lived in Linhares, in the north of the state, to fulfill her wish to live in the capital. The girl began to stay at her brothers’ house, in São Pedro, Vitória, from a very young age. It was then that, in her teens, Karolina met Gustavo, who was 15 at the time. The two were neighbors.

But the first courtship of the girl, who dreamed of getting married and having children, turned into a nightmare. Soon, the groom began to show a sense of possession with Karolina. Always jealous, Gustavo was aggressive when he was upset. He even stayed in a socio-educational center for hitting his girlfriend.

“At that first moment they were together for about two years. But he was very jealous and Karol decided to finish it on his 15th birthday. He did not accept it and beat her a lot. It was then that we learned that he was living in a violent relationship. The family mobilized, they arrested him, she asked for a protection measure, and the courtship ended. Since then, we have not spoken more about him. Karol went back to living her life, met other people and started working as a minor apprentice, ”said a family member, who preferred not to be identified.

In January 2020, the teenager’s mother died a natural death. An orphan, she stayed with relatives. But after landing the job as a minor apprentice, she began paying rent to live alone. Working in the office of an engineering company in Vitória, Karolina planned to take courses to get a job in the area.

“Even though they were separated, the ex-boyfriend did not leave Karol alone. He sent her threatening messages, telling her that he would kill her when they released him. He was afraid. So much so that he even changed his phone number, changed his name on the phone Social networks and he spent time living with his grandmother in Linhares. After about six months, he returned to Vitória, where he began to work and resumed his life, “said the relative.

But about 1 and a half years later, when Karolina was 16 years old, she met Gustavo again. The boy had returned to her parents’ house in São Pedro after being hospitalized and being subjected to socio-educational measures, since she committed the crime of aggression when she was also a minor.

According to the teenager’s siblings, they had no information that the two had returned to date. But a close relative of the victim, who prefers not to identify himself, said that in moments of outburst Karolina confessed that she returned to the relationship because Gustavo said he was sorry, promising changes.

About two months ago, the teenager’s contract as a young apprentice ended. Unable to pay the rent, she returned to stay with relatives. It was then that, according to a close relative, Karolina began living with Gustavo. However, the short time that the two lived in the same house was full of abuse and violence. Until the parents of the accused had asked the young woman to leave the residence, fearing for her safety.

“He said that he loved her very much, that he was sorry for everything, that he wanted to be with her. She said that she loved him too, that she believed that he had changed in the time he was detained and gave him another chance. But then she told me that He came back much worse, more jealous and more violent. The last breakup occurred when he demanded to see her phone. After a month and a half at her boyfriend’s house, Karolina ended the relationship once more and, with only her clothes on, she asked Linhares’s relatives for help. The young woman returned to live in the north of the state and was recovering from the violence she suffered with her family, but Gustavo continued to insist on returning with her.

On August 14, Karolina turned 17 years old. Linhares’ family prepared a cake and the teenager was happy with her new era. However, she still dreamed of living in the capital again, having children and starting a family. Missing São Pedro’s friends and saying that she needed to distract her mind a bit, the young woman went to Vitória last Saturday (5).

“She said she wanted to do the courses, work and have a child. She talked all the time about Vitória, that she wanted to go back. I still played, that I was too young to think about children. But she had this dream of starting a family. I wanted to get married. , but mainly to have a child, even if I am alone. She said: “I am going to work, rent a house, stabilize and have a child in 2021. You can live with me and help me.” She was going to see some friends in Vitória. We asked her a lot not to go, then he said he needed to relax, ”he recalls.

But on Saturday (05), the teenager no longer gave the news to the Linhares family. Only on Sunday (06), when a relative sent a message asking how the weekend was going, Karolina replied that she had gone to a party with friends on Saturday night and that on Sunday she was “fixing the house.”

“At around 3 in the morning they called me saying that she was dead. I started to cry and at that moment I already knew it was Gustavo. Karol was an incredible person, very loved by everyone and full of dreams. But sadly she got into a relationship. of violence at a very young age, which ended in the worst way because Gustavo was possessive and did not accept the end of the courtship, ”she laments.

Karolina and Gustavo were seen talking and drinking alcohol on the steps that are a few meters from the house where the crime occurred. After 11 at night, they entered the residence and, around midnight, the neighbors only heard the cry of a victim. After that, Gustavo ran towards the Serafim Derenzi road, but was stopped by the neighbors.

When the police arrived at the scene, around 0:30, the boy was still immobilized by popular people. It was Gustavo himself, after confessing the crime, who showed the military the house where Karolina was dead. According to the neighbors, the residence belongs to the boy’s family and the teenager had already lived there with him. Currently the house is empty.

Gustavo David Coutinho was transferred to the Specialized Service for Women (PEM), in Vitória. He was fined in flagrante delicto and transferred to the Viana Triage Center (CTV). The Espírito Santo Justice, in a ruling by Judge Raquel de Almeida Valinho, determined that Gustavo make the arrest a flagrant crime in preventive detention.
