In addition to the master’s thesis and doctoral thesis, Kassio Marques also copied extracts from the lawyer Saul Tourinho Leal in an article published in 2015 in the official gazette of the Federal Regional Court of Region I, reports the Crusoe.
Nunes Marques copied parts of a text written by Saul in 2012 on the Consultor Jurídico portal.
The topics of the articles are different. The judge defends “the maternity pay to the Maxakali Indians and the theory of tolerance”, while Saul speaks of “Albie Sachs and the principle of diversity in South Africa”.
In the passage quoted, Kassio copies Saul’s description of a case in the South African constitutional court to support his argument. Kassio only changed a few words and added a paragraph of his own to the text. Saul is not mentioned as a source.
