Forward Kaio Jorge ended a long period without scoring by giving Santos a 3-2 win over Olimpia today (1st) in Asunción. Responsible for the turnaround in the game that guaranteed the classification of Santos to the knockout stages of the Libertadores, the young player minimized the end of the 15-game drought and highlighted the collective action.
“This question of scoring goals or not is normal. The center forward lives on goals, but I had been playing good games. I knew I would go for an hour. I am happier to have helped my teammates on the field,” said Kaio Jorge in an interview after the game.
The player revealed at the Santos base also spoke about ownership in Cuca’s team. The coach has given Kaio Jorge chances, leaving Raniel as an option on the bench.
“They are all starters and have something to add. It is a healthy dispute. Cuca will know how to choose. I will continue to do everything possible to continue playing,” said Kaio Jorge, who scored Santos’ third goal in the game.
Classified, Santos already has 13 points in the competition, with four wins and a draw. In the next round, the last of the group stage, Santos will host Defense and Justice, from Argentina, in Vila Belmiro. The duel will take place on October 20.
