The Rio de Janeiro Regional Labor Court (TRT-RJ) today denied a request from the Brazilian Football Confederation to reverse the decision to postpone the match between Palmeiras and Flamengo, which would be played today, at 4:00 p.m., for the Championship Brazilian. CBF had filed an injunction to guarantee the match, but TRT’s duty judge, Judge Maria Helena Motta, decided to keep the postponement.

After the defeat at TRT, the CBF is still trying to make the match happen today. The entity appealed to the Superior Labor Court (TST), in Brasilia. Knowing this, Palmeiras and Flamengo continue with normal hours, attentive to the possibility that the postponement is canceled.

The game has been postponed since yesterday, after a decision by TRT-RJ accepting a request from Sindeclubes (Union of Employees in Clubs, Federations and Sports Confederations and Professional Athletes of the State of Rio de Janeiro), due to the outbreak of covid-19 in Flamengo. . Rubro-Negro has more than 40 infected people in the club, with 19 players.

In the sports field, the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) also denied, yesterday, a new request from Flamengo for the postponement of the match. However, with the decision of the TRT-RJ in the Common Justice after the request of Sindeclubes, the game remains suspended.

For Flamengo, the postponement would be a matter of “public health”. Another point that had been highlighted by the Rio club was that the professionals who support the squad were exposed to the virus, which prevented them from exercising their activities until the departure date.

Palmeiras, for his part, was always against changing the date of the confrontation, “buying the fight” for the maintenance of the original match and even counting on the participation of his players in the articulation behind the scenes. Alviverde president Maurício Galiotte affirmed that if the protocol agreed by the clubs against the Brazilian is not fulfilled, the competition must be stopped.
