Jemerson next? Corinthians have examples of recent successes with defenses out of space in France

Corinthians is getting closer to announcing one more reinforcement for the season. With Danilo Avelar injured, the club was displaced by a defender and has a deal with Jemerson, 28, who ran out of space in France.

The fact that the athlete was “leaning” left some fans with their feet behind, but the recruitment patterns are nothing new. Timão recently sought out two of his most successful defenders on French soil: Gil and Pablo.

The current 4 alvinegro jersey, which is in its second spell at the club, arrived for the first time in 2013, from Valenciennes. In the France team, the athlete had made only 15 games before they accepted the good cover-up proposal to return to Brazil and become one of the big names in the national territory.

Years later, in 2017, another pillar of the Corinthian defensive system landed in France. Without playing for Bordeaux that season, Pablo agreed with Timão on a one-year loan. On the field, he quickly established himself as a partner of Balbuena and was a key player in winning the Brasileirão.

The scenario for Jemerson’s imminent arrival is similar: the athlete has yet to take the field for Monaco this season. The difference is that it comes to Brazil to regain its prestige. Unlike Gil and Pablo, after all, the defender has had a more consolidated moment, coming to wear the colors of the Brazilian team.

In numbers, the distance between the players on European soil is also noticeable: Gil had 43 games with Valenciennes, Pablo 17 with Bordeaux and Jemerson 153 with Monaco.
