It is false that the mayor of Rio and candidate for re-election, Marcelo Crivella (Republicans), is ahead of the voting intentions this Saturday (28), the eve of the second round, as a post on Facebook says (see here). The investigation published this Saturday shows his opponent, Eduardo Paes (DEM), ahead. Paes has led the investigation in the city since the first round.

The post with the disinformation piece already had more than 700 shares on Facebook on Saturday afternoon and was marked with the FALSE stamp on the social media verification tool (learn how it works).

FALSE

Game turned giving: 55% Crivella. 45% EDUARDO. IBOPE SHUT UP !!!!!!!!

It is not true that Marcelo Crivella, candidate for re-election to the City of Rio, leads the voting intention polls, as a publication that circulates on Facebook this Saturday (28) says. Crivella’s opponent, Eduardo Paes, has been ahead in the electorate’s preference since the polls held in the first round.

Paes leads the way in the latest polls published. In the Datafolha poll published this Saturday by G1, the DEM candidate had 68% of the valid votes, compared to 32% for Crivella. In the Real Time Big Data poll published the same day by CNN Brazil, Paes had 68% of the valid votes and Crivella, 32%.

The latest Ibope poll was published on Wednesday (25). That day, Paes had 65% of the valid votes, against 35% for Crivella. According to the electoral voting record of the TSE (Superior Electoral Tribunal), Ibope will publish a new poll at the end of this Saturday.

Paes has always led the polls in Rio de Janeiro, as can be seen on the Ibope and Datafolha websites.
