Is this the new BMW 2 Series Coupe 2021?

Sunday became more interesting with some failures appearing on Instagram, courtesy of wilcoblock. It is still unclear where the images were taken, but they apparently show the next generation of the BMW 2 Series Coupé without any camouflage, despite a cover that hides much of the car’s lines. But we can see the front and rear with nothing hidden, in addition to presenting some details.

First of all, we are glad to see a relatively small grid. There was fear of embracing the big piece we see on bigger models, like the 4 Series Coupe, which will be shown later this year. This may be a sign that BMW won’t put the over-the-top grid on all its models, but we have to wait and see.

The headlights are a good evolution compared to the current one. The same can be said about the front bumper, which has triangular air intakes and an M logo on the grille. Speaking of M, this car apparently has the M Performance package judging from the huge tailpipes and a small spoiler on the boot lid. It is not an M model, probably an M240i Coupe.

Like headlights, lanterns are also far from what we see today. The photographed unit is using German license plates, making it more likely to be a final car, not a model, indicating that we may be in front of the production car and not a prototype for design approval.

We cannot totally rule out the possibility of being a well-designed projection, as so far there is no broken BMW 2 Series. Again, there is a good chance that it will be the first contact with what enthusiasts call the G42. It should be launched sometime in 2021 with rear-wheel drive, in the Gran Coupé.
