The City of Rio is the target of a search operation, this Thursday (10), of the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) and the Civil Police of RJ.

The working group investigates an alleged corruption scheme in the municipal administration of Rio.

The teams went to the Administrative Center, in Cidade Nova; in the building where Mayor Marcelo Crivella (Republicans) lives, in Barra da Tijuca; and in the City Palace, in Botafogo.

The 1st Group of Criminal Chambers of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice issued 22 search and seizure orders, requested by the Criminal Origination Law (Gaocrim), which investigates public officials with privileged jurisdiction.

There is no confirmation yet whether Crivella was the target of the operation.

HE G1 contacted the mayor’s office, but had no response until the last update of this report.

The Coordination of Investigation of Agents with a Civil Police Forum supported the operation.

Other targets of the operation were Eduardo Lopes and Mauro Macedo.

Lopes was a Republican senator from Rio, when he inherited the position from Crivella, and was secretary of Livestock, Fisheries and Supply to Wilson Witzel.

Macedo was treasurer of Crivella’s campaign for the Senate in 2008 and was cited as a whistleblower for the bribery scheme involving the state’s Federation of Passenger Transportation Companies, Fetranspor.
