A rare and tense act: the attack of a jararaca in a waterfall in the interior of Mato Grosso. It all started with a program that seemed perfect. Dr. Dieynne would give her new boyfriend and a couple of friends a place that she considers one of the most beautiful in Brazil, an environmental park located 12 kilometers from Cuiabá.
To get there, it is necessary to face a path of 800 meters. In addition to a ladder with 470 steps. The park was closed for five months due to the pandemic, it was the second weekend open to visitors when Dieynne, her boyfriend and friends decided to take the tour. Halfway there they received a warning that, until that point, did not seem dangerous: tourists coming from the waterfall reported seeing a snake at the site.

Suddenly, very quickly, the attack occurred. “I already saw the snake. A very big snake on its neck. It was all very fast,” says Iury Roman, who witnessed the attack. After the attack, Dieynne and his friends went to a hospital, where the doctor remained in the ICU for eight days. Still in the hospital, the doctor recounted the details of the attack.
