Internacional and Bahía tied today 2-2 (6), in Beira-Rio, for the eighth day of the Brazilian Championship. The game was very busy, with two goals disallowed, two penalties scored with the help of the VAR and four balls in the net.

The hosts’ goals were scored by Patrick and Galhardo, and Rodriguinho and Clayson scored the net for the visitors. The result maintains Colorado as the leader of the competition. Bahia, in turn, avoids a worsening in its crisis, but still reaches five games without winning.

The teams play again for Brasileirão on Thursday (10). The international leader receives Ceará at 7.15pm (from Brasilia). At the same time, in Pituaçu, the tricolor of Bahia faces Grêmio.

Property control, but few threats

It took Inter just two minutes to show Bahia their business card. In a play started that was born from a Uendel cross, D’Alessandro crossed and demanded that Mateus Claus make a big save. However, despite having control of ball possession, Colorado did not create major threats to the Bahian Tricolor, which was very comfortable in its proposal for a game based on counterattacks.

Ze Gabriel fails, and Bahia opens the scoring

The first goal of the game came unexpectedly after an individual failure by Inter. Zé Gabriel missed a cross pass to the ball, and Rodriguinho took advantage of Daniel’s pass, cleared Boschilia’s mark with a beautiful dribble and opened the scoring for Bahía.

Repeated movie and equal score

Inter’s tie came in kind. After the individual failure of defender Juninho, D’Alessandro capriciously rolled for Thiago Galhardo, first, crossing Patrick to test the nets.

His Majesty the VAR

Before the end of the first half, Bahía again took the lead on the scoreboard, after Gilberto took advantage of a counterattack and finished between Lomba’s legs. The goal, however, was correctly disallowed with the help of the VAR. Three minutes later, it was Inter the cry for a contained goal after Galhardo scored and his condition of impediment was confirmed with the technological assistance of the referees.

In the second half, Braulio da Silva Machado was called to consult the VAR screen in a penalty shoot-out after Gregore’s supposed push in Cuesta. A few minutes later, the The referee ratified his initial mark and Galhardo converted the penalty confirming Inter’s return.

When the match seemed decided, the VAR called the referee again to investigate a possible foul by Rodinei. The infraction was finally confirmed and Clayson achieved a heroic draw for the visitors.

Best: Patrick sets the pace for the leader

Thiago Galhardo has deservedly received a lot of prominence in this great start of the Brasileirão that he makes for Inter. Today, however, despite having put in a good performance, the midfielder has been overshadowed by his industry partner: Patrick. The rare combination of extraordinary physical strength and skill with the ball on his feet made the 88 jersey paramount in Colorado’s best moments of the game. Less overwhelmed than on other occasions, D’Alessandro was another who performed well.

Worst: Rodinei upsets Inter’s result

Despite spending a few minutes on the pitch, Rodinei ended up being decisive in a negative way by committing a child penalty in extra time. Gregore, from Bahia, also performed below average in Beira-Rio.

Second tie followed by Inter; Bahia reduces the crisis

The defeat-flavored tie prevented Inter from reaching their fourth win in four home league games. The result, however, was enough for Colorado to stay in the lead after eight rounds. Coudet’s team already has 17 points and is followed by São Paulo, with one less.

Bahía, who has not won in five games, remains in 12th place, with nine points. The Tricolor is only one point above Grêmio, the Bahianos’ next rival in the competition and the team that opens the relegation zone.
