However, starting in December, the INSS intends to again require proof of life. According to the decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the measure is valid for beneficiaries residing in Brazil and abroad.

Even in accordance with the ordinance, the routine and contractual obligations established between the INSS and the banking network that pay the benefits are maintained, as well as the life test must be carried out normally by the banks.

The suspension began in March

The suspension of the life test had been determined in March, when the measures of social isolation began to contain the spread of covid-19 in the country, and then it was extended until September 30, after that October 31 and now runs until 30. from November.

The INSS declared that because of the coronavirus pandemic, it will be able to extend the deadlines again while the state of public calamity lasts, but so far the deadline is until the end of next month. The life test is mandatory and is intended to prevent fraud and improper payments.

How to do the life test?

To do the proof of life, it is necessary to go directly to the bank where you receive the benefit, present a photo ID. Valid identity card, work card or national driving license. Some banking institutions already use biometric technology in self-service terminals.

Beneficiaries who cannot appear at the bank branches due to mobility difficulties or illness may prove their life through a lawyer duly registered with the INSS.
