The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Economy, confirmed the estimate of the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) for 2020, leaving the current 2.35% and going to 4.10%. The indicator is important, since the result is used to readjust the minimum wage and pensions of the National Social Security Institute (INSS).
Therefore, if the index is confirmed, the wage floor would increase from R $ 1,045 to R $ 1,087.85 in 2021. That’s a increase of R $ 42.85.
Thus, with the 4.1% increase, the INSS ceiling can go from R $ 6,101.06 this year to R $ 6,351.20 as of 2021.
OR INSS roof it is for people who receive monthly salaries well above the national floor. Upon retirement, they would end up earning large sums. Therefore, the government could not pay the same amount every month based on what they earn in the practice of their profession.
For this reason, the retirement ceiling is necessary. The ceiling serves as a limit to social security expenses and maintains the balance of accounts in the Brazilian social security system.
