The first installment of the 13th salary is paid, in principle, in the months of August or September, according to the statement made by presidential decree. However, this year the payment was made between April and May, following a specific calendar announced by the INSS.
The second installment, normally paid in November or December, was paid between the months of May and June (05/25 to 06/06).
The anticipation made this year for the new coronavirus pandemic was regulated by Provisional Measure 927, signed by President Jair Bolsonaro on March 22.
The funds were released to mitigate the economic impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, now in December, policyholders will not have an extra portion, which can leave beneficiaries unattended in the last month of the year.
To ensure that the insured are not left homeless, the Senate even analyzed Bill No. 3657/2020, which provided for a 14th salary for retirees and pensioners. This would be a way to help the beneficiaries, in addition to injecting money into the economy. However, so far the text has not advanced in Congress.
13th salary in 2021
According to the decree published by the Government, the agency will anticipate the payment of the 13th social security, awarded annually to those who receive pensions, death pensions or various aid. The measure begins to apply only from 2021.
In 2020, quotas were advanced due to the economic effects caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The new decree aims to extend this new option to other years, without the need for the Federal Government to announce the progress.
