Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) again criticized the business closure, established by several governors in Brazil, due to the collapse caused by the covid-19 pandemic. He downplayed the importance of full hospitals, stating that “health in Brazil has always had its problems.”

Bolsonaro posted the image of a 2015 field on health bed problems, and responded to a message that had been made before on Twitter, in exactly the same words as a user. The Secretary of Culture, Mário Frias, also published the same message, just before the president.

“Health in Brazil has always had its problems. The lack of an ICU was one of them and certainly one of the worst. Today, by closing the shop and forcing him to stay home again, there is a massive strike with disastrous consequences for the country”. ”Reads the message that has been spread on social networks.

Brazil yesterday registered the worst moving average of deaths from covid-19 in the entire pandemic. According to data released by the media consortium, 1,180 Brazilians died, on average, in the last seven days. The data reinforces that the country is in its deadliest moment of the pandemic, with a moving average of more than 1,000 deaths since January 21, 38 days ago.

Despite this situation, Bolsonaro has been presenting a denialist speech since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic. Initially, he claimed that it was a “fluzinha” and that it would kill few people. Then he began to argue that it was necessary to prioritize the economy, without adopting measures of restriction or social isolation.

Bolsonaro also insisted on promoting the use of drugs that have never been shown to be effective in preventing or combating covid-19. The federal government bought and produced chloroquine, in addition to revealing that ivermectin would have an anti-disease effect. But even the laboratory that manufactures ivermectin internationally has admitted that the drug is useless to fight the coronavirus.

The president also harshly criticized covid-19 vaccines. He drew attention that they could cause adverse effects and joked that they could turn someone into an alligator.

He also came into conflict with the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, for CoronaVac, produced by the Butantan Institute and the Chinese laboratory SinoVac. Bolsonaro even said that he was not going to buy this vaccine, because he distrusted China. But after the approval of Anvisa for emergency use, the Ministry of Health bought 130 million doses, which are being produced and applied throughout the country.

Bolsonaro has recently criticized restrictions and even the use of masks. On the day that Brazil completed 250,000 deaths, he said, without presenting any concrete study on the subject, that the masks could even do harm. But the main health agencies recommend the use of this product as a means of prevention.
