The statement represents a new attack by the president on mandatory vaccination, an issue that can be brought to justice.
It also comes after days of political clashes over the future offer of a vaccine against the new coronavirus.
On Wednesday (24), Bolsonaro emptied an agreement announced the day before by his Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello, for the purchase of 46 million doses of the Coronavac vaccine, under development by the Chinese Sinovac with the Butantan Institute, linked to the government from São Paulo. .
“It will not be bought,” Bolsonaro wrote in capital letters on a social network.
Later, he began to refer to the immunizer as “João Doria’s Chinese vaccine,” in reference to the governor of São Paulo, of whom he is a political opponent and ahead of the vaccine supply agreements.
Currently, Doria defends the immunization requirement and Bolsonaro preaches against it.
Posted on social media largely without context and with distortion of information, Bolsonaro’s frequent statements about the vaccine and its mandatory nature have been viewed with concern among health experts because of its anti-vaccination potential.
