In a speech to rural producers in Sorriso (MT) on Friday (18), President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) affirmed that staying home during the Covid-19 pandemic is “for the weak” (watch the video above).

Again he criticized the social isolation pointed out by scientists and doctors as one of the most efficient ways to contain the advance of the coronavirus. Brazil has more than 135 thousand deaths from the disease and is one of the countries with the highest number of infected (4.4 million people).

“You didn’t stop during the pandemic. You didn’t get into that soft ‘stay home, the economy we’ll see later.’ This is for the weak. The virus, I always said, was a reality, and we had to face it. Nothing to cower so we cannot escape from that, ”Bolsonaro said.

“This region, this state, acted in this way. Agribusiness, to a large extent, prevented Brazil from going into economic collapse. And more than that, it gave us food security.”

During his visit to Mato Grosso on Friday, Bolsonaro delivered rural bonds and participated in the launch of the soybean crop.

Speaking to representatives of agribusiness in the state, he said that there are “some fires in Brazil” and that this has happened over the years. The Pantanal faces a record wave of fires and smoke from the fires has already reached other regions of the country.

“We have suffered a lot of criticism. Because, obviously, the more they attack us, the more interest our competitors have, for the best we have, which is our agribusiness, “he said.

In reference to the criticism of other countries about the burning in Brazil, Bolsonaro replied: “Other countries that criticize us do not have a burning problem, because they have already burned everything in their countries.”

Plane crashed by smoke

Flight launch from Bolsonaro to MT because 'visibility was not very good'

Launch of flight from Bolsonaro to MT because `the visibility was not very good`

Before going to Sorriso, Bolsonaro passed through Sinop (MT). He said the plane he was traveling in had to take off when it arrived in the city, as visibility “was not very good.”

“Today when the plane landed, it fired. It was the 2nd time in my life that this happened, once I was in Rio de Janeiro, and obviously something abnormal is happening, in which case the visibility was not very good.” , he stated.

According to the Sinop airport manager, there was smoke at the time of landing and the pilot did not have 100% visibility of the runway.

The flight maneuver occurs when the pilot decides to go back up with the plane when the plane is already in landing operation, towards the ground.

The landing of the delegation, which was also occupied by the Ministers of Defense, Augusto Heleno, of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas, and the head of the Secretary of Government, Luiz Eduardo Ramos, occurred normally on the second attempt.

After the speech in Sinop, Bolsonaro drove to Sorriso. According to the Smile City ceremonial, he would fly into the city by helicopter. The assistant to the president, however, did not say the reason for the change and denied that it was because of the smoke. The distance between the two cities is 84 km. The trip lasted about 1 hour.
