Surgeon Antonio Luiz Macedo, President Jair Bolsonaro’s doctor, released an audio message in which he erroneously states that the Covid-19 vaccine killed a Brazilian volunteer and that people should not be guinea pigs. The audio circulates in WhatsApp groups.
In the five-minute recording, in which Macedo identifies himself as “a surgeon of the digestive tract, and known throughout Brazil,” the doctor responsible for Bolsonaro’s surgeries asks “respect for Brazilians, we are not guinea pigs to be tested with vaccines that are not approved by anyone ”.
He says the tests should be done “more seriously, with less astonishment, so that a 28-year-old doctor does not die trying a vaccine” and points out the danger of the immunizer, lamenting “this poor boy of this 28-year-old doctor who died of a vaccine “.
“Stop testing the vaccine, the vaccine is not for testing, the vaccine is for approval if the vaccine data provides security for the doctor to authorize it,” says Macedo, who confirmed the leaf author of the audio.
Macedo’s statement about the vaccine is unfounded. The Brazilian doctor who participated as a volunteer in studies of the coronavirus vaccine under development by the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) died of complications from Covid-19 and did not receive the trial immunization.

In the audio, Macedo also identifies the governor of São Paulo, João Dória. Dória affirmed that vaccination against the new coronavirus in São Paulo will be mandatory, except for people who have a restriction endorsed by a doctor.
Coronavac, an immunizer against Covid-19 created by the Chinese Sinovac and that will be produced in Brazil in conjunction with the Butantan Institute, proved to be safe in its test of the so-called phase 3 (the last one before approval) in 50 thousand volunteers in China .
“Those who authorize vaccination are not secular governors or mayors or anyone who wants to be in the public network … who authorizes vaccination is the patient’s doctor, who is responsible,” says Macedo. “If we listen to what our main governors say, our president and his entire team speaking, and the president of Anvisa speaking, we will know the right time to use the vaccine and which vaccine to use.”
