SAINT PAUL. The president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, and the candidate Jilmar Tatto, will meet this Tuesday night to discuss the future of the party’s candidacy in the elections to the mayor of São Paulo. Former President Lula, who is not participating in the conversation, and other officials hope that Tatto will make a gesture in favor of Guilherme Boulos (PSOL).

The path defended is that Tatto does not formally renounce its candidacy, especially since it is no longer possible to get the name from the electronic ballot box, but to recommend the vote in the PSOL candidate. This solution would also prevent the candidates for councilor of the PT from being left without a link to a slate of the dispute for mayor.
Everyone believes, however, that the decision to support Boulos must come from the candidate. According to officials, Lula decided not to intervene directly, but made it clear in conversations throughout Tuesday that he expects that from Tatto given his poor performance at the polls. The declaration in favor of Boulos, say members of the PT, could create a political fact to carry the PSOL candidate into the second round.

The Ibope poll released on Monday shows Boulos numerically in second place, with 13% of voting intentions. Celso Russomanno (Republicans) has 12% and Márcio França (PSB), 10%. Tatto has only 6%. Bruno Covas leads in isolation with 32%.
Petistas investigated PSOL earlier this week about the possibility of joining the home stretch in São Paulo and Rio. Tatto’s adherence to Boulos would be offset by the withdrawal of Renata Souza (PSOL) in favor of Benedita da Silva (PT ) in the capital. Fluminense. The hypothesis was ruled out by the psolistas because, for the moment, there is no concrete possibility that Benedita will go to the second round.
A manifesto released this Tuesday by intellectuals and artists defends the union of the left in favor of Boulos in São Paulo and Benedita in Rio. “Faced with the situation, we call on voters, voters, candidates and candidates who share the left field that forces disappear, campaign and support the candidate and candidate best positioned in the investigation, so that we still have time to produce synergy and a new dynamic that guarantees the presence of Guilherme Boulos and Benedita da Silva in the second round, “says the text signed, among others, by the political scientist André Singer, former spokesman for the Presidency in the Lula government, the writer Fernando Morais, the philosopher Vladimir Safatle and actress Camila Pitanga.
